Because I love the variety of sound - something I miss when I (occasionally) play the organ. I also love the way it is so self-contained (ie. doesn't always need accompaniment!) and adapts into every kind of music imaginable in the Western World!
Good enough answer?

i like it cuz it's so open, visually, and the keys r jst sitting there waiting for u. (ok that doens't make any sense lol) it's different from a flute or violin, where u have to make the noise urself, if u know what i mean. which u don't:P

Just love the variety of piano musics... and virtually there are unlimited possibilities of arrangements as long as your fingers can manage it

I like the fact that it is one of the few instruments which you can play 2 contrasting melodies at the same time! And for me learning both staves at the same time helped me with learning other instruments...

I just love it because when you play you don't feel as if there is something missing as you may do when you play an instrument which sounds better with an acompiment (spelling).

I agree when I play the violin, it doesn't sound complete without some sort of accompaniment, but you can play both the melody and accompaniment on the piano. I love how you can play so many different sorts of music on it, classical, pop, TV themes and songs from musicals can all sound great on it and I just like the way it feels when you play it, you are in total control of what it sounds like and you can change it to suite your mood.
That makes no sense duz it? oh well!

An incredibly versatile, beautiful instrument. Nothing compares to the range and depth a piano can create.

There are many similarities between playing piano and yoga (another hobby that I love):
(1) stress relief
(2) you have to put heart and soul and sensation
(3) when you can perform a difficult piece (or do a difficult post), you may show off
(4) you can play regardless of age, and carry on when you get old

Playing the piano to me is another form of yoga. Every act I do on the keyboard is directly related to my "mind position", and thus the finger positions.
To play music well, I have to be in touch with my own quality of the soul, so that the music can speak my feelings in a persuaive matter. Showing off is not my priority.

I really enjoy piano because I am not very good at it and I find it a real challenge - it's so rewarding when I recognise the piece I've been murdering for hours!
Also if you meet someone else who plays (and there are loads) it's a head start on the friendship

I like playing the piano because you don't have to learn how to get a sound out of it like on the flute, the piano notes are just there in front of you, if u know what I mean. and once you know where the notes are, its the same in every octave but with the flute or recorder, there's different fingerings. I still like the flute best though!

I love playing piano because its so rewarding espacially when you get a really difficult piece of music and then get to it to perfection so that when you play people go, "Wow, that's amazing!!" I must admit i am a bit (well, a lot!!) of a show-off!! LOL

Definitely its good for letting out some anger too... if someone has wound me up i head for the piano and i tend to play my best after that sort of thing happens!
Also, you can portray so many emotinos with the piano, express how your feeling.... very emotional instrument. I'm also finding that with teh violin at the moment too, putting my body into it.
