I am 15, and my aunt has recently got a piano. She asked me to teach her and she had never played before. I don't know what to do in lessons with her. Any suggestments would be welcomed greatly! smile.gif

Think about how you started your lessons - what do you remember learning? Perhaps you were very young when you started to learn, so some of the stuff you learnt over a period of 2 or 3 lessons you could explain to your aunt in just one lesson and she would pick it up. Think about hand position, how the piano's arranged, the staves and clefs and finger numbers etc. Perhaps she can already read music, although she cannot play the piano??

There are many adult piano books on the market - have a look through some in your local music shop - some move along faster than others. (Can't remember names of these books - sorry, but someone else will no doubt make suggestions.) Alternatively you could use one of the Michael Aaron books which I tend to give to beginners who are aged about 12 or so and it moves along at a reasonable pace and is not too childish.
