I've been up all night, but only as I am doing a night shift at work which is not going too badly, labour ward not too hectic all night, thank goodness! ph34r.gif

ps about coffee, I drink LOADS of espresso, it does NOTHING to keep me awake, in fact, after a night shift I get home and I drink 2 double espresso to help me 'sleep better' smile.gif
Sunrise
Glad you're having a quiet night.....

That's mad about coffee!! I don't think I've ever heard of anyone else with that capability! I'll just have to go and buy a large bottle of diet coke to keep me awake when I get to work. I'm finding it hard enough to concentrate there as it is..I want to be teaching and practicing, not in the office!

Going to bed last night, and the night before and the night before have been complete wastes of time! dry.gif

It's horrible isn't it DC., I have suffered so badly from insonia for several years now. I have to admit that this last week I have had 2 fairly good nights.

Monday I managed to sleep at least 5 hours in a run, basicially unheard of for me for years now, and last night I didn't do too bad, I dropped off bt 11pm and didn't hear hubbie come in. Woke around 2 am but managed to get to sleep and although only catnapped an hour at a time, slept until the morning.

It makes all the difference to how you feel when you wake up if you do actually get sleep. I can't believe that for 2 years now that I have been living on a couple of hours sleep a night, and then that has been if I was lucky.

I think last night I slept better as I had a really good day with my daughter and really enjoyed our walk and I wasn't going to let anyone take away that feeling from me, therefore went to bed feeling more relaxed.

ohmy.gif That must be awful ET!!! sad.gif I wouldn't be able to function at all on that amount of sleep. Anything less than 6 hour's sleep a night and I start feeling tired during the day!!!
I don't know anything about sleeping tablets but wouldn't that help?

When at University I used to do most of my Mathematics during the small hours, against a soothing background of guitar works by Manuel Ponce and Bach. smile.gif

Now though, I'm not doing any mathematics, although here's one to be getting on with - hopefully it will send you to sleep!

I think you would be 30 now. (I suspect you wish that were the case! tongue.gif )

It's 4am here and I cant sleep. I can't quite believe what I did tonight...On suggestion from the lead flautist, I applied for the Local Regimental Band, which is a paid job and IF I get it will be another step towards getting rid of the office job. I say IF because I have only been playing the flute for 4 months....but I'm hoping they will look past that (and they do play alot of similar music to the other band I'm in so I know with a bit of practice I can do it) and take me for my violin orchestral experience...

And then like an idiot I offered that if there is an instrument that they are missing, I'll have a go at learning it! What was I thinking? Knowing my luck it would be a bassoon or heaven help me a french horn!!!

Excited and terrified all rolled into one!! Now I@ve got that off my chest will sleep please come and take me away?

How nice it is to wake up and find that your exam pieces are not playing in your head! smile.gif

Not really insomnia, although I don't know. unsure.gif

Computer was due to scan for viruses etc at 2 am, so I sort of stayed connected to save leaving the computer on all night for the autoscan.

So I furnished myself with Saturday's Guardian Prize Crossword and tuned in to Radio 3's Through the Night with a programme of music by Mozart. I have stayed up to hear the piece being played right now, Mozart's Prelude and Fugue in C, K.394; played on a fortepiano.

I have an AB volume of Miscellaneous Mozart, much of it Baroque in nature, what with Preludes & Fugues, Fantasias and a couple of Suites. I bought Busoni's take on Mozart's Jig Fugue some time ago too - a bit of a handful, as usual.

As the applause dies away, it's back to the crossword ....

Gosh! Here I am again! sad.gif

I suggested to Fran*Piano, a couple of hours ago, a whole list of books that might induce drowsiness, but since they were all of my own choosing, interesting me sufficiently for me to buy them in the first place, I can't turn to any of them myself for that purpose.

My plans to go into school and practise for several hours have been scuppered. OK, I could still go in, but surely effective practice would be at a minimum, in view of the tiredness that is bound to catch up with me mid-session. I shall stay at home and practise later, making best use of the hour and a half that I would otherwise have spent walking there and back (I almost wrote 'to and fro' but that produced an image of me pacing backwards and forwards, getting nowhere!).

In the words of #### Dastardly, "Drat, drat and double drat!" mad.gif

EDIT: How annoying is that?! mad.gif Who ever heard of Richard Dastardly? mellow.gif

I've just realised that it was Christmas Carols wot done it - kept me awake. For some reason my mind sang through the three carols that I would like to be performed at this year's Carol Concert. Aaarghh! Not the right time, nor the right place! ....... Surely there are some shepherds hanging about with sheep that I can count?! unsure.gif

Is it too early still to join this club tonight?? I'm shattered, but want to stay up to listen to Alice Cooper's radio show-that is, if I can find the blessed thing! wacko.gif

For once, I'm forcing myself off to bed at a reasonable hour. Funny, seeing as I don't have work tomorrow for a change!

6 hours' practice tomorrow, then I'm going swimming smile.gif
