HI
I am going on a clarinet choir residential weekend next weekend at Little Benslow Hills, run by Paul Harvey. I wondered whethere anyone else from here was going or been on a course here before.

Hello Ferretman

I have been on quite a few courses at Benslow. It's a great place - as you probably realise it runs music courses of all sorts throughout the year, from sax choirs through singing and viol groups to piano and jazz piano and now even conducting!
The staff are really nice and friendly, rooms are comfortable, bar is open at the right times! (say hello to Ken) and you can spend far too much money at Myatts if you are not careful (tell them you are doing a Benslow course and you should be given a discount!!)

I have heard of Paul Harvey - and read his writings in the CASS magazine - you should have a great time. Report back won't you?
PM if I can say any more to help.

Hi ferretman,

I've been on one course there. It was great fun so I'm sure the clarinet choir will be also. I'll second Saxfan's recommendation-the food and accommodation (and bar) was also very good. Obviously that side of things is of secondary importance but it all adds up to a very enjoyable weekend. Do give us a report when you get back. I would have liked to try that course myself but it was too close to other commitments.

This was also my first time Benslow - great venue and course - got the chance to try out my new bass clari I had picked up from Dawkes on the way up - I was new to playing bass and eveyone was very friendly and supportive - thanks Ferretman. I have already booked for the next clari weekend 31 Aug-2 Sept. Highly recommended.
