ive played trombone for 4 years, but ive ALWAYS used a used horn, never had my own new one. but i just got one (yahama ysl448g) and i was trying to get the tuning slides out. they wont come out. i dont want to pull too hard, i dont want to break anything.
is there something special you have to do to it? can anyone help?

I'm not familiar with this particular model but if its from the 400 series it is a student horn and i'm guessing Bb/F type for orchestral use? So what slide are you referring to, do you mean the one at the back of the horn? Surely you don't mean the main playing slide? If its the one at the back just give it a good strong pull and then stick some grease on it to make it easier for finer tuning.

Ey Up. Just surfing the net and found this which is cool. I am not a trombone anorak but do play for a living so am not a teacher. It's about time that we had something like this on the instrument in a band where you are the only one!!!!!By the way does anyone want a brand new Conn Director 22H for 350 quid!?!?!?!?!?

I'll ask at my school; nobody plays the trombone (I'm in the newly formed jazz band playing trombone parts on a French horn

)
