hey, I'm looking to get a new 'professional model' trumpet before I start music at uni and I was wondering which range of trumpets people generally thought were better - obviously I'm going to go and try out specific models of trumpets, but just wanted to see what people thought....?
thanks

Strad! - Except bach have been on strike for 3 years or something silly like that! and I happen to know the guy who got the last strad on sale in the country!
Cracking instrument though, I'd reccomend it above the xeno, but at the prices these things cost the best thing is to go a try them both, and see what one suits you.

I would agree with stradivarius. I had a go on a friend's strad and it was relly good, espcially in the upper register. The notes were much easier to get than on my yamaha student model. Shame they're so expensive really...

My husband has both and uses them for diferent genres. You just have to try. The XENO is great for jazz. The strad for classical. If you are just about to go to Uni, therefore still officially a secondary school student, remember you can purchase it through your local music service VAT free!

What makes a 'good trumpet'?I thought they were all just coils of Brass. I play a Single Horn and trumpet, both Stagg because they were cheap, then again I have no intentions of doing anything harder than Hymns for church!

I'm a horn player, but my two sisters LOVED their Strads.
