Full Version: What Does This Mean?

Hi,

When looking up the syllabus for grade 5 classical guitar, I came across this is relation to arpeggios: 'the common chords of the above keys for the ranges indicated' (the above keys being: C, Db, D, Eb and E - major and minor).

Now, this may seem like a silly question, but...does 'common chords' mean all the chords in these keys? Or does it mean all the chords these keys share, excluding the chords that don't appear in each of the keys?

When looking though my (quiet old) scale book, the only arpeggios in there are the tonic chords from each of these keys. I thought that was all I needed to know, but this has confused me. blink.gif

Please could someone shed some light on what this means? unsure.gif

Thank you,

Just the tonic chords.

Just the tonic chords.

It is just the tonic chords as I thought!

Thanks, I was getting really confused as my teacher told me the examiner could ask me for any chords, for example F major, just because it's in the key of C major. unsure.gif But if it's just the tonic chords I'm alright. smile.gif
