Hi to all,

i will be sitting for ABRSM Grade 5 practical exam this year- i think it will be in June or July.

I think i have not much problem with all the requirement but the arpeggios.

can somebody tell me, just how to practise with all the arpeggios section.

must i practised it everyday since it is quite difficult. how about the PIMAAMIP ? can it be change to PIIMA...(for example, please see the Db 2 octaves).

i can ask my teacher but i think having more opinion/ experience will help me a lot.

really hope to get some help here.

You need to learn the patterns. And if you find them hard then yes, daily practice of some of them will help.

You should never play consecutive notes with the same finger, because it doesn't sound good and limits speed.

The 2 octave pattern for right hand should be: pimaimamiamip, and analogously for 3 octaves.

But remember, the arpeggios are a small part of a small part of the exam.

Meerkat & Tremolo,

Thanks for the tips given.

I'll try using the fingering for the 2 and 3 octaves.

What i have been using in the first 3 key (C major, Db major and D) is quite different. The sound have not been so flawlessly especially for Db major key.

But, daily practise should be able to detect and fix the problem & new idea will makes things clearer than before.

i agree the arpeggios is a small section, but if i can fix it and play it to the fullest- well it will be big boost to me during that day knowing that i have a good shield for every bullet shot by the examiner.

In any way, thank you and i welcome any new response and idea cause that really help me a lot.
