MBC_Tiger and I are running a little competition for composition.
The rules are:
1) A maximum of four lines can be changed from the lyrics below
2) Apart from that the lyrics can be used as freely as you wish
3) Only students may take part with the above rules (I've posted different rules in the teachers forum, which only let you change 2 lines)
Anyone who wants to take part must submit their entry either recorded or in Sibelius form, to me, by midnight 7 days hence (ending tuesday 26th July)
The lyrics as they stand are (thanks to MBC_Tiger for writing most of them):
Time slipping through my fingers
Tears falling from my eyes
I guess I’m kind of used to this
You and your damn constant lies
I thought that we could be happy
And I thought that you’d still be my friend
When you said that we could be lovers
never thought our love would end
whenever you touched me it always felt so right
and when we made love, our spirits danced in the moonlight
and I'm wishing you were here to hold me tight
but you've gone, yes you've gone
I've been realising that I started a story
A tale that I couldn't work out
Our plot lines collided
Our hearts didn't meet
ANd before long you said you'd leave me
We started off quite happy
but then you turned so cold
what could have been we'll never know
you never let our love unfold
I saw with you him/her last week
you said it wouldn't happen again
but you put me down, and mess me around,
you're never sorry its all pretend
I've been realising that I started a story
A tale that I couldn't work out
Our plot lines collided
Our hearts didn't meet
And we parted
And I never
Want to see
Your face again

Cheery little set of lyrics there.
I'm afraid reading those words doesn't exactly make me want to rush out and start trying to set them to music!

Well, it's a very long set of words, there isn't much time to do it in and you haven't said what its for, whether theirs a prize, plus I don't have any means of recording it or submitting it in Sibelius format. If you don't get any entries, I suspect its because people don't think its worth the hassle!

I'm extending it a week on the request of certain people.
StuMac, would it make a difference if I said this is a trial run for a competition that a very very world famous composer may well be judging?

Same here, I would have a go but I don't have Sibellius (too expensive), or any facilities to record it nicely. And I'm not very good with techy stuff on the forum so would have no idea how to get it to you anyway.

After many requests from other people, I'll be excepting postal entries. I'm sure I've already said this, but this is a small trial run for a bigger competition, and there is no prize, but there will be for the bigger competition, and I can guarantee that your entry will be given attention if you have been helpful enough to participate in this one.

I'd have a go, but I haven't got enough money for Sibellius, and I've got no good recording facilities, unless theres some other way I could get it to you?

Not really - the lyrics just don't do anythnig for me I'm affraid.
Only composed a couple of pieces and they've just been simple piano pieces. Can't get my head around words, which is a biot surprising as I spend almost all day every day writting!!!

Accepting, not excepting.
Of course I can't reveal the name of the person, because I'm then in a bit of a trouble if they back out later on.
Anyway, if people want to mail me scores, they can feel free - it's part of the reason I extended it a week. My address is available if you PM me.
