I need help desperately!

I should be doing Grade 8 this December and when it comes to practise I'm not a very diciplined person!

How much practise do you think I should be doing (a day) and has anyone got any tips. I know I should be practising everyday but I don't! Help!
ping-lee!
(You don't need to tell me that I should stop going on the Viva Network forums so often as an exuse not to practise!

Someone always posts this somewhere. Anyway, I usually average 4-5 hours a day, but lately, it's been 1-2 hours on account of busybody-filled days. Also, I spend additional hours doing reading, more theory, composition, listening, etc.

I practise about 1/2 hour a day . But most days i sit down play practise a peace for a short while. then i have a brake like something to eat or drink maybe a bit of Tv then i go back to the piano and practise and do a little bit longer than befor then i have a brake again then i go back to the piano
so if i actually added up the numbers of hours i would be doing about 3 or 4 hous a day but it does vary alot.
but now the summer is here it get hot in my conservatory where my piano is but shouldn't be i have to do it around dusk when the consevatory get cooler and easyer to practise.

Like someone said on the viva strings network... it's probably more constructive if you don't really like practicing to aim for getting say... four bars perfectly right first... intonation, dynamics, gradation, pitch, rhythm, pulse.. everything, rather than how long you need to practice. Then when you achieve your aim you can congratulate yourself if you've spent quite long practicing it or you can improve on the next section if you've gotten it right pretty fast. That way seeing results will be cause for more satisfaction then counting the hours you put in without really getting much done.

30minutes at most!
I can practise 0 seconds a day!(quite many days indeed)
I spend time on other pieces on the same book(grade 8 exam pieces when I did my grade 8, and at that time I didn't spend much time on my proper grade 8 exam pieces) and other pieces downloaded from the internet or other pieces I found.

Had 18 hours a day once on the Classical Guitar. However, not to be recommended everyday.
4 Hours minimum on the piano is what I employ. Think of yourself as a time machine, the more you do in a day, the sooner you get "mission accomplished". Example, a Boy starts playing Piano at 10 - has 4-5 hours everyday minimum, and gets all grades by the time he is 12, gets is first piano recital at 13-14, and a fully fledged concert pinist at 16-17. easy!

ive been shocking these holidays and hardly touched the piano, been pretty busy with work and helping my parents organise our local agricultural show (its a big event). But through term time when ive got something to work up to, ill be practicing at home anywhere between half an hour and 2 hours, and around 40 minutes at school each day.
This year im in 6th year and only doing 3 subjects so ill have half of each day free, so lots more time to get into the music dept, and also more time in school to do homework so i have more time to practice at home. sitting grade 8 so i need to!

I'm going to have more free time this year too because I'm only studying for 9 GCSEs at school (well, and an AS level outside of school) whereas most of my class are doing 10 GCSEs in school- but I took music this year so I don't need to...
So... more time to do homework at school and practise piano!!!
But I live in the music department anyway so no-one will notice the difference...
