It is a little extra bit on the flute that either closes or opens an extra hole (I can never remember...) when you play high register E to make it easier to play smile.gif

4 hour band practice?!? blink.gif That's a pretty long rehersal ...
MissJones
It is... I was once in an Orchestra which rehearsed for two hours one evening a night, and I could hardly stand it. Then again, that was Orchestral stuff. I could probably manage a Wind Orch. or Brass Band.

The music course I've been doing included 6 and a half hours playing time per day, for three days. Hence my tiredness. wink.gif

How odd. I can't play flute well after playing trombone. But as you say, everyone is different! happy.gif

Ouch blink.gif . 6 and a half hours a day?!?! That's surely got to hurt a little? Especially with brass/wind instruments ... does it not hurt your mouth?
MissJones
It certainly does. Today each time I stopped playing I had to nudge my front teeth into normal alignment after being pushed back a smidge by the constant pressing of my mouthpiece. I also have a brace on my lower teeth, which causes a lot of pain on the first day - not so bad once you get used to it. But yeah, it really kills by the end of the afternoon, whereby I find myself struggling to play fairly easy notes well. It's good fun, though. smile.gif
PianoSecrets-x
Yeh, atleast you enjoy it. Imagine if you were forced to go, it would make it so much worse by the pain of it lol
MissJones
True! I could never hate it, though. It's great! Orchestras on the other hand are not so fun... not sure why... I just don't get on so well with them. It's ok if they're playing fun things like Crown Imperial and 633 Squadron, but otherwise... hmmm...

Hello history lover!

Regarding flute upgrade, it depends how much you have to spend!
