I am so excited because my teacher said today in the future I can do a teaching diploma but that there was something in between grade 8 and that. She is going to sort it all out for me but she told me I would be able to find it on the ABRSM website. I can't find it. I found CT ABRSM but it can't be that because you already have to be a teacher. I am not sure but I think she said it might be called advanced performance, or something like that. My next lesson isn't for another two weeks and I just so want to look up the information. Please can anyone help me.

Does she mean the advanced certificate? I don't think that is available any more.

Thank you, Sarah-Flute. That is what she means. Is there a replacement for that?

There's a Trinity performance certificate - I don't remember the exact name of it - that is post G8 but pre-diploma standard. I'm afraid that's the only thing that *I* know of, others may be able to help more. I don't think that the ABRSM have replaced their advanced cert. with anything.

Thanks, sarah-flute. I think you are right. I have just looked at the Trinity one and that seems to be tied up with their speech and drama syllabus rather than just a stand-alone music one, but I could be wrong on my interpretation of that.

You are wrong. It is a purely music one, if you make sure you're looking at the music section of the website.

that's what it seems to me too! I can only find it on the performance as in drama and speech part of their site
But it's a good idea if you can find someone who still does it - the ideal link between grades and diplomas, and something to work towards!

It is music - though I sympathise with finding the website confusing as I can never find anything. I don't know if they have reintroduced this exam apart from for piano (or was it piano and violin?) yet but it definitely exists and is music.

I find the TG website very confusing and difficult to navigate so perhaps this is why I can't find it!

I see what you mean, MelodyAmour. I just looked at the music part of the Trinity website, and the certificates have disappeared from them.

They are in the graded exam syllabuses - for example, I just found the info for the piano certificates on P46 of the piano syllabus.

The advanced certificate is no longer available and it has been superceded by the DipABRSM. There was a time period when one who passed the Advanced Certificate would get credit for the ?recital part of the DipABRSM (I think Jod knows more about this).
