Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone is familiar with Kindermusik? Is this program well known in the UK? (I am from the U.S. and was just curious how widespread and how well known this program is). I do know it originated in W.Germany, but still not sure how it is received in Europe in general (esp the UK and France) Thanks much!

Anyone? I realize this is probably not the best forum for a question on Kindermusik, but could anyone give me any ideas about how well known it is. How comparable to the early exams is it. Would anyone recommend it over the exams (for early ages)? Is it something that would be better to use in combination with the exams? Any info on positive/neg experiences with this well known music system would be greatly appreciated!

I know of Kindermusik but have never witnessed any classes and have only ever met one Kindermusik teacher.

(Until recently the session I run on the CT course was titled 'Kindermusik' although I usually put people straight right at the beginning what my specialism is - I see it's now called 'Early Years' ).

I googled it & found there are classes in the UK, but not that many & none in my area. It looked interesting, & I'm certainly all for children having pre-instrumental classes where possible, but I don't think Kindermusik is widely known in the UK. I'm an experienced piano teacher, working for a large music service & I've done lots of courses, but I've never come across it. Our music service runs its own classes for young children & other people run independent classes.

I think the reason you're not getting replies is because people haven't heard of it - people are generally very helpful on these boards.

Thanks nic, Cyrilla, and bevpiano! I was hoping I wasn't being overlooked because of my Kindermusik question on the ABRSM boards. I didn't mean to suggest that people would be anything other than gracious, as usual! People are nothing but extremely helpful and polite on this board!

So thanks for the information gals, and I will continue to try to research the topic.
