The old thread was getting a bit unweildy, so I'm starting a new one to make things a bit simpler. I'll ask the mods to sticky it tomorrow.

So the deal so far:
We'll have a rehearsal 15 April, probably 2-6pm. Venue tba, but probably Little Bowden Village Hall.

Bandstand gig will be on 5 May, at Welland Park Bandstand. We'll play in the afternoon and have a practice in the morning. Venue for practice tba. Should we aim to start at 10-ish?

Barry and I have been talking about possible dress. Barry's suggested black bottoms (i.e. trousers or shirts, not the judicious application of boot polish to your nether regions) and a solid colour top. We need to agree on the tops. I lean towards black, as I imagine most people would have a black top. But perhaps a strong colour would look funkier. What do you think?

15th April seems fine for me smile.gif I'll have orchestra, but I can do it.

Any time fine to start.

Preferably any colour but white for the top wink.gif

I look like a corpse in a black top but I think I can find one somewhere if that's what you decide.

barry-clari
10-ish for a rehearsal start sounds fine on 5/5. smile.gif

2-6pm on 15/4 will also be fine, I think. I'll check on engineering work 'just in case'.....

edit: nothing out of the ordinary on the Midland Mainline website. smile.gif
barry-clari
Shall we go for a bit of a democratic vote here? smile.gif

If you're coming to Harborough on 5/5, who'd prefer to wear a black top, and who'd prefer a coloured top? smile.gif
sbhoa
Colour for me. smile.gif
nicki_flute
Depends what colour - I know I definitely have a black top!

As long as it's one solid colour (no patterns), you can pick any colour, ie. I could wear red, you blue, sbhoa green, meerkat yellow etc. smile.gif

But if you insist, I vote for a colour ...

A touch of cross-posting here, apologies (see calendar thread).

There's no formal closing date for the bandstand gig, but if you can let me know if you're coming a little beforehand, I can sort out music a little easier - many thanks! smile.gif
barry-clari
A couple of reminders:

The next gathering is scheduled for 15th April, 2-6pm, venue listed on the first post.

The gig is on the 5th May, again details are on the first post. I'd like to start rehearsing at about 10-10:30ish.

Looks like dress code for the 5th will be a plain coloured top, with black bottom half. smile.gif

A little request :

Anyone else who's coming to the bandstand who wants a solo spot (Nicki, Carl, katyjay, your solos are confirmed), please let me know by Easter Monday (9th April) - I will finalise the pieces that will be in the pads by this date. smile.gif

Just some venue details for 15 April. I've booked us a room at Market Harborough Methodist Church, in the Youth Centre (not the church, which we used last time, but in the same building). The venue is booked from 2.00 (opening at 1.45) till 5.30pm.

I won't be around from this friday till next (and I'm having trouble logging onto the ABRSM from home anyway) so if questions crop up, if those of you who are familiar wtih the way the ensemble works could step in with answers that would be great.

Just sorry I can't make either of those dates mellow.gif
I'm helping to run a sax workshop on 15th April - should be good fun with lots of playing and a concert from professional saxophonists in the evening.

5th May is a major sailing event and I have to play taxis ! !
I should like to have played in a bandstand again. God bless the grandstand and all who take part/who sail in her! biggrin.gif

There will be more Harborough get-togethers in the future - hope you're able to make some of them. smile.gif

For those of you going to both Harborough and Leicester, the Radetsky March we're playing as the finale at Leicester will also be on one of the bandstand programmes, so you are welcome to hold on to your part for Radetsky if you're also coming to the MH playday on the following Sunday. smile.gif

We're getting very close to the bandstand concert now.

There's a playday on Sunday - details above. I'd like to spend a reasonable proportion of Sunday on the three solo pieces (Nicki's Cavatina, Carl and I's Flower Duet and katyjay's Summertime)

The bandstand gig is on Saturday 5th May. I'm going to aim to start rehearsing at about 10-10:30ish, with three x 30 minutes-or-so playing sessions on the bandstand in the afternoon (one solo spot in each session).

Dress code will almost certainly be plain coloured top (no stripes/spots/patterns etc.)/black bottom half.

If you want to come along on the 5th May, all you need to do is let me or meerkat know beforehand - that way I can ensure there's music for you to play. A programme will appear on this thread about a week or so before the gig : but I can tell you there'll be all sorts of music from light classical to TV themes to pop tunes.

Hope to see lots of forumites there - let's all hope the weather is nice and sunny like it has been these last few days! biggrin.gif

sarah-flute
Hope the weather holds smile.gif

Hi, I'm intending to drive up to MH this time. It would be great if someone could let me know the address of the Methodist church as this will be my first visit there. Failing that perhaps I could meet Katyjay at the station and play follow my leader ?
