Hi! smile.gif
I was wondering if anybody is taking their Piano Grade 5 soon. unsure.gif I'd love to talk to someone about it or to have some advice on pieces, general help and previous grade 5 piano takers (recently).
I'm playing-
A- Les Carillons - Kirnberger
B- Study in A Flat - Heller
C- New Orleans Nightfall - Gillock
Thank you very much! tongue.gif

I recently did my Grade 5 and I played the New Orleans Nightfall too. It really is a lovely piece and it was the one which I was awarded the most marks for, because apparently my, 'enjoyment of the piece was evident'. tongue.gif

Good luck!

I didn't take the exam, but I have played New Orleans Nightfall and it is a really nice piece. smile.gif The only thing I don't like about it is the jumping from the low chord to the melody in both hands on the second page.
Good luck with your exam soon! biggrin.gif

I did my grade 5 in June last year.
I did New oleans for fun, but didn't do it in the exam.

I did

Sonatina

Thanks everyone, and hope it went well Annetta.

Everyone seems to be playing New Orleans Nightfall - it's a lovely piece.

Well, I've got my exam date - 22/23 March, and we apparently have a woman examiner. Well, I shall just have to wait and see, but supposedly men are more generous!...

Piano exam going well...the word well doesn't even seem to have a consellation with the exam. The exam went absolutely terrible...I will be lucky if I get a pass and I have never doubted not passing so much in my exam years (well its only been 3 lol)!! I will just have to wait and see - men examiners are definately more generous and I had a woman so we shall soon see!

Got a woman for my flute exam as well!

Good luck to everyone else!

I absolute LOVE LOVE LOVE New Orleans Nightfall. That is my goal - to get to a standard where I can play it! Did I tell you that I love that piece? wub.gif But I'm sure the day when I will be able to play it is long off... mellow.gif

Aww, I'm sure you did okay. Good luck for the result though, I hope you pass alright. I didn't think I'd passed my Grade 4 oboe - I totally hashed up C minor and I didn't even manage to play it laugh.gif but I got a merit (125)! That was the largest shock of my life!!!

The exam date is getting closer and closer and closer and closer. AND CLOSER ph34r.gif

I have never doubted passing an exam so much before...I jsut really feel that I might not have passed and even if I have, I probably scraped it with like 102 or something! Most of the pieces went wrong, I really mucked up the scales, the sight reading was fine and the aural was terrible!

I will definately start a post when I get all my results back saying what I got!

Thanks again,

Annetta xx

Yeh me too it was easy to play, as is my B piece (study in Ab - Heller) but it's still a nice piece. tongue.gif
