I noticed yesterday that the tendons in my right hand were knackered. Its either tendonitis or tenosynovitis. I know the score as its happened before. So its back into the wrist splint.

The trouble is I've got to keep working and I've two grade 4 singing exams to accompany on the 19th March. The accompaniments still need work. How would you pace it?

Just to cap it all I'm very right handed!

Frankly Jod, I wouldnt risk playing for a while. Things like tendonitis are usally better for resting a week or two

Sorry to hear that jod! How frustrating....my best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Teaching is interesting - well singing teaching is where I spend so much time playing. I'm teaching the piano tonight. I just hope I wont have to demonstrate too much!

Of course if I'm lucky its all part of my fibromyalgia and will settle down when I'm allowed enough sleep!

If it's tendonitis the best thing is rest. I had tendonitis and struggled to play through it - ended up needing injections and physio. My right hand has never been the same since. Not only could I not play but I couldn't write and was off work for several months. Try to rest as much as you can, Jod - you don't want it to get worse.

I'm sticking to rest today. I've got a splint that I can use to rest it in, that way if I do have to demonstrate anything to piano students I can, but will try not to.

Tommorrow is my eldest son's birthday and we're taking a few lads bowling. I won't have to bowl just supervise. My hubby can help with the lifting of bowling balls.

It's a pity. I enjoy ten-pin bowling (not that I'm any use). However trying to launch a 12lb bowling ball down a lane a present would ###### my wrist up completely.

Ater the week-end I'll try some gentle playing and with any luck will then cope with getting these accompaniments finally polished for my pupils.

Hope a few days rest helps. Maybe you could try playing with a tubigrip on for support when you start practising again. It has helped me in the past.

sad.gif I think my bowling days are over, so are my tennis, hockey and badminton days! sad.gif

Well the rest of my health inforced the rest. There wasn't a piano in the hospital ward I camped in from Saturday night until yesterday. Even though I was poorly in the morning I was determined not to spoil my son's birthday. Fortunately not too much harm was done, now if I take things gently I should be OK.

Sorry to hear you've been in hospital jod. Hope you are feeling better now. Take it carefully.
