Hello,

I'm doing Grade 8 at Christmas and have just looked at the pieces today - they're so cool! I'm doind the Bach, Saramouche and Tabasco. Is anyone else doing those pieces - any tips?

I find tabasco very boring. The Bach, on the other hand, is beautiful, and very easy.

You must be a quick learner.
Doesn't doing the exam this December mean having everything ready so that your teacher will enter you in September?

Yes it does. My teacher wanted me to do a performance diploma on the saxophone (I'm post Grade 8 clarinet) but as I've never done any sax exams I wanted to do one first. I'm pretty quick now at learning pieces and sight reading is not too bad - I'll just need to work on my scales.

DavidMusic, what study would you recommend if Tabasco is so boring?

I just came across these posts and found them very unconstructive.
Appassionata just wanted advice and if you can't provide it, please refrain from such pretentious comments.
I thought these forums were supposed to be supportive to fellow musicians?

i do sometimes wish people would stop going on and on and on and on about David's posts. David is David and he is not going change his ways for anyone.

and these forums are supportive to fellow musicians, i think David overall is supportive to many people on this forum including me, so please lets not turn another topic into a rant about David just because someone doesnt like a post or two of his. im getting slightly bored of it.
