I went for my exam and I'm grade 7. I played Micro Sonata and I ruined the whole entire piece. Futhermore, my sight reading is horrendous... And then the Aural, I think i really smashed all hopes. Do you think I can still pass??? I was tested by Mr Marshall ... he's very nice but my fren told me he's known to be STRICT... do i still stand a chance??? *CRY*

Slacker, don't fret too much about it....
well, you dont know your marks yet, so dont panic!!!
Even if you dont pass, there's always a chance to do it again

You are grade 7...think of all the other people who do not have the chance to play piano.
You have a v. high grade already

Dont worry!

I think most people think they did worse than they actually did. What instrument was it?

yes you do still stand a chance, you might only scrape a pass, but u should pass as it sound exactly like one of my previous exams not so long ago!
aural was horrendous. pieces were awful, scales were awful, in fact evey single part of the exam was awful apart form sight reading!
and i still scraped a pass! so dont worry! and let us know what you get when you get your result, im sure you will have done better than you think

I did Grade 7 too. I think I smashed a distinction. Sight-reading was BAD, all flats were played wrongly. My aurul, she asked me to sight-sing again but I did the same thing. Then, she asked me for tonality and my damn mouth said"it started in major but ended in minor". I knew it ended in minor and I doono weater in started in major but my mouth is too talkative.

Wow, a grade 7 stated he would be failed??? Ich kann nicht glauben...
anyway, you are grade 7 aren't you? I think high levels would be okay (i'm grade 3, I always envy high-levels)

You are your own worst enemy, everyone does it, including me. I am forever thinking 'Oh I could have done that piece better' or thinking the worst. But I hope you are pleasantly surprised, I am sure you have done well

If it turns out you have failed, just use it as more motivation for Grade 8 if you want to do it or if you want to redo Grade 7.
Good luck!

Sprichst du Deutsch, Eriol??
Grade 7 is HARD sometimes... just because the grade is high doesn't mean the level is!!!
I played all the notes wrong in sight reading in my grade 7 exam but did lots of dynamics etc and got 18...
I also messed up the aural...
But I got merit in the end... my first ever merit, I always got distinction before...
But it's not the end of the world tzl tzl!!

Ich auch. Ich musste (that should have an umlaut I think but whatever) Deutsch in der Schule lernen.
And I think I'll return to English now, I'm trying to keep up practise with my Geramn, as I'm doing it next year, and don't want to forget everything I've done for GCSE!
To get back to music, I found German helped a lot ofr learning the Greman theory words, but I had a nightmare learning the others. And in the exam they were French ones!! I am seriously rubbish at French, having never done it in school.
I guessed them, and by some miracle got them right.
Going back to the original topic, only you know how well you've done Slacker, but its no good worrying about it now (another bit of unorthodox Tamsin advice/sympathy coming up here~ its not meant as tactlessly as it sometimes comes across remember) you've just got to put it behind you and be pleasantly suprised when you pass, after all, if you were well prepared in the first place, you should be OK, even if the exam went badly!

Ich hore gern alle Musik, ich habe kein Leiblingsmusik!
And I strongly suspect, that while my german may be perfaectly understandable, my german teacher would be wincing at my prro grammer!

Yes I'm doing German GCSE too... das ist nicht gut... manchmal kann ich Deutsch nicht leiden... manchmal finde ich Deutsch sehr langweilig...
But right now I like German!!!

I learned the German terms 5 minutes before I left to go to my Grade 5 theory exam... but luckily I got something like Adagio or dolce or something so it was OK!!!
I did go for years thinking that "pesante" meant "pleasantly" though!!!

I have this nasty feeling, that even though I'm suposed to be getting an A* in my GCSE German, only 2 weeks left till results day, your German is better than mine Cecilia!
I have to use a music terms dictionary quite a bit, I just cant get any beyond the basics, eg allegro, into my head!

Hallo, wie geht's? Es ist ausgezeichnet, dass viele leute Deutsch sprechen konnen. Ich liebe zu singen auf Deutsch, z.B Schubert oder Schumann lieder.

I'm having to think about this one, ausgezeichnet(?) I hate those composite verbs, is that interesting, nope that would be interresant or some related words, erm, good, I don't know!
So erm, you mean its something that lots of people can speak German and you like to sing in German for example Shubert and Schumann especially.
Oh dear~ I really am getting out of practise!
And Cecilia, I keep telling myself that it's no good worrying about my results now, cause theres nothing I can do anymore except wait. It doesn't do much for that horrible clenchy feeling in my stomach everytime someone mentions the date though, does it?!
Hope you've done ok, we'll have to put up a big post announcing our results when the day comes round- race you to it. lol.

I'm not doing German next year. I'm doing french and spanish instead. I don't know whether german helped me with theory or theory helped me with german! Auf wiedersehn
