Aaaah what a thread

Interesting read if I may say so. Picking up on some points:
I love Chopin's music and also Debussy (I am taking a module on him at uni

) and also many other composers. However; I would say that I prefer Le Onde and some of Einaudi's other music to some of Chopin's etc, not all but some. That isn't to say that Chopin was a bad composer, it's just personal preference. Yes, a lot of Einaudi's music is repetitive, yes it's quite long, and yes it's simple, but is that necessairly a bad thing? If it's not your kind of thing then yes, just don't listen to it, but to me and perhaps others it's great how it is. I don't think it's too long and I don't really think it's too repetitive. I quite like to listen to something simple and relaxing, Einaudi to me, is perfect for that. Different pieces of music by different composers evoke different moods to every person. We're all different! Just because one person doesn't like Einaudi - does not mean that he's a rubbish composer - they just don't like his style. Similarly for Chopin etc, doesn't mean he's any less of a composer, just not everyone's tastes. You'll always get people saying "oh no way you cannot compare Einaudi with .... (insert composer here) so and so is faaaaaar better". In that persons OPINION - yes, but to me there's no set rule as to who is good and who is bad, it's just who we as people prefer to play/listen to and so on.
I'm sure that could have been said in about two sentances

One more thing - I was sitting in the Bridgewater Hall only a few weeks ago, listening to his new music - an absolute joy. I find that just as pleasing as going to listen to a concert full of some other composer
