No I've not tried them. Some say they are good. Another friend tried one, bought lots, and had several dud ones, and won't buy them again in a hurry.

What do you normally use? My teacher used to make reeds for me, but now I buy Wiggins (sadly no longer) have tried a couple of Torda reeds (but they tend to cross after a while) and have got a Stray reed on order to try...

What Grade are you on?

Hey im a grade 7 oboe player and my oboe teacher makes my reeds for me which is very good because it saves money and she can make them to suit my oboe and myself biggrin.gif how are you finding the oboe? Iv only been playing for 1 and 1/2yrs smile.gif

Hi, I'm an oboe player myself did grade 8 oboe earlier this year now working towards DipABRSM level.

I have used Winfield reeds from the start when I first learnt the oboe but now I use the professional ones I have found myself most of the time the reeds are good, occasionally can get some dodgy ones.

If you get the reeds directly from Mr Winfield and you are unhappy with them he will normally replace the ones free of charge.

Link to his website if you don't have it already is:

Winfield Reeds

I have never tried the new staples I have heard they suppose to be quite good though.
