Hello everyone
I have decided to lurk in this cafe because today it is my birthday. I was supposed to be going to Paris for lunch but the Eurostar has been suspended because there is a danger of a gas cylinder exploding. Anyone I'm glad I'm safely at home without having any limbs blown off. I've got to decide what I want to do instead. Originally I thought a lunch river cruise on the Thames might be nice but have just looked out of the window and decided that might be a little chilly, so will probably choose a nice hotel with opulent surroundings. It is not what everyone would call a special birthday but to me all my birthdays are special and I am so happy to be alive.

Yes, I heard about the Eurostar suspension. There aren't any trains running into Victoria mainline station either for the same reason.....
Hope you have a great birthday MA, hopefully you'll have the chance to have lunch in Paris sometime soon.

With Eurostar, Paris is quite do-able as a day-trip, have done that myself before.

I've just thought MA, as it's not your fault you can't go to Paris, I think it's quite possible Eurostar will exchange your tickets for another day, I do think it's worth contacting them.

Thanks for the good wishes. We are able to have a refund and they were very helpful especially when they were told it was a birthday treat. Paris is one of my favourite cities. I am still going to have a good day whatever we end up doing.

Many happy returns and I hope you find something equally good to do. Birthdays are all special, if only because they're the one day a year that no one will argue with you about what you want to do

I hope you have a lovely time today

Happy Birthday Melody Armour.
I'm sorry you won't get to Paris today. But it will still be there when you get the chance to go, and I hope you find something else nice to do today.

Thank you everyone. I have just got home for having a lovely day out. We had a meal at the Four Seasons Hotel in Park Lane, then went for a walk in a park. We then met another friend and went to a bar in Camden. I have just got home. I hope you all had a good day as well.

Happy birthday! Sounds like you still had a lovely day in the end. Saturday birthdays are my favourite - it'll be a few years before I get one again.
