Beannachtaí na féile oraibh go léir.

happy St Patrick's Day to you all.

Any of you up to anything exciting for the day?
organgrinder
Well the day is nearly over now - hope you all got to drown your shamrock if you celebrated the day!

Happy St Patrick's day to you too! smile.gif

I went out with friends last night (dressed in green, of course!) and spent today at the beach (not for St Patrick's day, but it did follow on from our night out!) Now, of course, I am a lovely shade of sunburnt red rather than green sad.gif tongue.gif

I should mention that I'm in Australia, so it's not completely mad to be at the beach at the moment!! It was a lovely 32C day for us biggrin.gif
Manek
It was also SaxFan's birthday...!

We dodged drunks in Edinburgh whilst walking from a concert hall to the train station, and then in the train station itself rolleyes.gif.

Recovering today myself too. Went to the parade yesterday, then (conveniently) on to the pub to watch the rugby biggrin.gif

Oh I'm sorry - I did not realise my grammar would be checked here

Not much really - played for Mass in the morning - loads of Irish hymns etc, then went to the parade for a while and came home and did a bit of work - quite boring really!!! And definitely not as exciting as some on the beach!
nic
The parade sounds good. I missed ours because I was working. However good the beach was, I am seriously starting to regret it, after having to turn up to teach today with a bright red face! Now why isn't there a sunburn emoticon on here?! tongue.gif
organgrinder
What would a parade be like over there?

Sorry to hear about the sunburn though sad.gif

The sunburn isn't so bad (or won't be in a day or two anyway!)

The parade in my city would have been anyone they could convince to be involved - fire trucks, horses, ensembles, etc - and a lot of people dressed in green! I heard on the news that 30000 people attended (our city has a population of about 4 million I think!)

What was your parade like?

Ours was really small affair - the usual tractors, groups of children walking and dancing, gypsy carts etc. 30,000 is a fantastic turnout even for a city with a population of 4 million.

Hope you have lots of cream on the sunburn to ease the pain!

I thought it was a pretty good turn out too. Very impressed! (Any excuse to party, obviously!) wink.gif
organgrinder
We all need an excuse to party once in a while!!!

Till next year now!
nic
Absolutely.

Although I won't need to wait for next year. My city jumps on any excuse for a festival or parade. I think we have a greek festival, medival fare and celebrations for Buddha's birthday coming up in the next month or two!! laugh.gif

Lucky you!
