Started teaching my first drum student recently...

She's a complete beginner to the drums, and I'm a complete beginner to teaching, but things must be going alright coz she's really enthusiastic and inspired about drumming, as am I about teaching!

We've only done two lessons so far (she's using my kit atm coz the one she's bought doesn't reach her until next week - I wanna get her off my kit asap though, it's possibly the worst kit there is to learn from the beginning on) and she's picking things up really quickly...

She had her first introduction to the metronome too... A stormy first meeting ("I don't like the sound it makes!") but by the end of a half-hour lesson, she was keeping with the beat so much better than at the beginning!

Really pleased with becoming a teacher (and ofc the money comes in handy too!) and I'm maybe hoping to get more students later on!

I notice you're from the Norfolk Broads Manek, my son is hoping to start drum lessons, how far from Lowestoft are you if you don't mind me asking?

That yacht's starting to look a possibility then, Manek? Catamarans have a bigger floor area.
All the best with your teaching - enthusiasm works both ways. biggrin.gif

I'm in Brundall... About half an hour from Lowestoft, I think?

Feel free to e-mail me (mail@manek.org.uk) or PM me here on the forum if you wanna know any more...

Or if you (or your son) just want some advice, I'll be happy to help you if I can!
