i'm teaching myself the bumblebee song, but having trouble playing it fast enough to sound 'right' (i.e. buzzybee sounds

). i can play it up to speed if i'm only doing it bar-to-bar (like, bar1 - lil pause - bar2 - lil pause etc.) but if i try the whole 1st page without a break i get really slow lol..
so, ne tips or techniques?

that's always the trouble with rachmaninoff's pieces...u have to play them really slowly and practise the fingering many times before u can play it reeli quickly... try to find out accents along the notes and put emphasis on them...i think this will help..

Start it very slowly, say, 60, 65 BPM, and do it at that speed until you have it perfect at that speed. Do it perfect at that speed three times in a row, if you screw up, you start over from the previous speed (or just start over if you screwed up at 60) go up 5 or 10 BPM every time you do three in a row perfect, until up to correct speed.
That's what my teacher says.

actually...u have to relax first... if u are too tense or stress...u can't play it well

Isn't dat Rimsky-Korsakov??

By the way, I think dat trouble is u have to play chords on both hands while u are "buzzing" (especially from the middle part to the end).

reminds me of Danse Macabre by Saint-Saens..... you can actually see the skeletons dancing as Death plays their fiddle

We are just playing Danse Macabre in the orchestra.
I love it.
It's a brilliant eerie piece - as it's meant to be !

i only can play the first page
but its not my grade yet lol
but its a fun piece to practise with!
as for speed, start slowly...just because its meant to be fast, doesnt mean that you HAVE to play it fast staright away!
patience....
