My bassoon is called Fred - full name: Fred the Faggott - and I nearly always use his name to talk about him.

I don't have any other named instruments - but my car is called Eva.

Is the B12 the student basic clari? In which case I have one too, and while I don't think it hates me as such, it's certainly not got me in its good books.....


Sounds a bit like Allan's refined French violin which insists on being called Hamish McFight........

It's one of the student models the B10 is the basic one I think, but maybe it's the B in thier name that makes them angry!

I had a B12 which I was selling for one of my pupils, and I was amazed at how light it was (but then again I'm used to playing wooden ones I guess) But we got on rather well and I even considered buying it myself, had I not already got far to many clarinets!

It is Sarah (though the B12 is regarded as a cut above the B10). An easy way to spot the difference between the two is the black plastic body rings on the B10, as opposed to the silver-plated plastic body rings on the B12.

Ahhh! Mine's a B12 then, thought so.

I call my flute Cantabile as its a trevor james cantabile 2, Old flute teacher thought i was really mad!!!!

I've just spotted this! Don't know if it'll help in your naming magicflute, but if you do name it after me, I'm a guy, so perhaps your clarinet will be a boy-clarinet!

My last clarinet was an Evette, is that like a B12? I'm not sure...I know that Buffet didnt put their names on lower end clarinets until after the 80s, or maybe it was the 70s... He doesnt have a name. I came from a one night stand...
