I'm currently trying to work on my snare drum technique, e.g. doubles. I was just wondering whether anyone had any good methods for doing so. My teacher's given me quite a few different ideas; I'm just keen to practise in as many ways as possible, and see what other methods there are out there! Any ideas?
(If anyone has any good ways of improving tuned percussion technique as well, I'd be interested to hear about them!)

You're probably ahead of me on snare already, but what do you need to know about tuned? I went back to tuned last week for the first time in AGES and it all seemed to go OK once I'd written in what hand was meant to play what note.

There's nothing in particular that I need to know, but I just want to improve technique generally. I've just started having percussion lessons after teaching myself for ages, so I'm trying to relearn how to play stuff and get rid of bad habits! Basically I just want to be really good, and I'm trying to find ways to improve quickly and significantly! Any tips would be helpful (and interesting).

Keep practising and come back with specifics

Don't worry about not having any advice, I just wanted to see if anyone had any good methods that they used!

Also...
For doubles, start slowly and accent the second stroke of each pair... Then gradually build up speed, still consciously trying to accent the second double...

That's so hard to do, accenting the second of the double!

Works in the end, though!

I'm sure it does, I'll work at it!
