I can't believe I am so lucky. Yesterday i was at a concert by Joanna MacGregor and got to briefly speak to her afterwards as she signed the cd i bought. Not only is she an outstanding musiciain but a really lovely person too.

I am totally totally inspired for Grade 7. I have never heard anything like her in my life - she is just amazing.

Where was she playing - did she play Bach?

I went to a concert at the south bank a few months ago where she played along with the Britten Sinfonia - a great evening. Bach and Moondog. I came away inspired too - although I didn't get to meet her.

She is really famous for her interpretation of Bach, in particular the Goldberg Variations - I think!

No, she didn't play Bach - she played mostly from her album Deep River with Andy Sheppard who was also amazing on sax and they also played an amazing piece - I think she called it a tango of some sort which I am trying to track down.

The cd is fantastic - I have played it most of today - really mellow in places, but really lively in others - definitely worth a purchase. I am now looking for some of her Bach work as I would love to play a bit more Bach and thought I might listen around for some variations.

She has been in Northern ireland this week!
