According to what I read for grade 5 theory: piccolo music is mostly written an octave lower than concert pitch so that it can be written identically to flute music: therefore you won't notice a difference in reading flute music to reading piccolo music, when you play the music it will sound an octave higher than it would do if someone was playing it on the flute but that shouldn't cause you any problems and you'd still be able to play it with the accompaniment if there is any.

To the bes of my knowledge there should be no problem, except as said, the piccollo will sound an octave higher than it would on flute.

Remember though that you can't get the equivilent of flute C1 on piccollo though, as it doesn't have the bottom C foot.

Anything written for flute can be played on piccolo apart from the bottom two notes of the flute - it has a C sharp and C lower than your lowest note D. After all, flauto piccolo (piccolo for short) just means little flute. I guess the character of some pieces may change rather a lot when they sound an octave higher than the composers intended, but you should find plenty to enjoy.

Piccolo is one octave higher from flute

I think you can work out the notes then smile.gif

Piccolo is one octave higher than flute.....don't you have a flute.....why do you just play piccolo? piccolo is the associated study....flute being the first

Sorry.....i've just read the message again and realised that you are asking if you can play the piccolo from you flute music.....the answer is yes as they are both pitched in C, just as the flute and oboe can play the same music and the string family and the bassoon also.
its so rock n roll
hey I play a lot of picallo music on flute so i don't see why you couldn't do it the other way round. Put it up the octave if you can and it will sound better.
