Just interested to know what you people think of them!

I really, really would love to go to one of the proms this year! (mainly cos i would love to go to the albert hall!) biggrin.gif laugh.gif tongue.gif cool.gif smile.gif Has anybody been to one or going to one? What do you think of the TV/Radio broadcasts of them. There was a topic previously on proms camerawork which was interesting to see what everyone thought. The theme of the proms is (if i correctly remember) east meets west. i think quite of the music is asian stuff and (of course) european music.

i would love your comments on the proms!

I would love to go as a spectator, but my dream is to go as a performer!!!
I'd really love to be the female singing soloist they often have on the last night, and sing 'Rule Britannia!!' that would be wicked. Amazing. Fabulous!!!
violingirl
yeah! that would be cool! this year they've got Sir Thomas Allen singing at the Last Night. He'll be singing some light songs which'll be great! you know what else is funny? the bit in the last night where everyone starts singing Aud Lang Syne! it's funny to hear the whole of the albert hall shaking with the resounding singing!

I usually go to one because my dad's friend is in the BBC SO so he can get free tickets! I've never been to the Last Night though... I'd love to do that one day smile.gif

The Proms seem to be to serious for me (in my opinion.) Have any of you guys heard of Andre Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra?

Best Regards
Craig
violingirl

Yeah I've heard of him.
Sukimonster
The shostakovich violin sonata tonight was awsome pure punk rock energy! did anyone see gidon kramers encore of aurora by Eugene Ysaye? Now that was some hardcore violin:)
violingirl
sutty 73, why do you ask about Andre Rieu and the Johann Strauss Orchestra? Is it because they're playing one of the Proms?
Yogesh
Prom 26 is worth a listen

Dear Violin Girl,

I don't think they are appearing at the Proms 2004. I just feel that the proms is a bit too serious where as Andre Rieu's music (selection) is more fun and enjoyable.

I suppose it is down to everyone's tastes, I much prefer Vienna type of music (Johan Strauss/Franz Lehar.) I'm not doubting the musicians abilities, i just feel sometimes it can be a little too serious for my liking.

Best Regards,
Craig
hornplayer
