There's something odd about the "good luck" smilie and the "keep your fingers crossed" smilie They both seem to appear as the same thing, but sometimes they appear as "good luck" and sometimes as "keep your fingers crossed" And even when you've posted and it looks OK, it can change to the other next time you look at it <spooky!!!>

It makes your post look at bit silly if it comes out as one when you wanted the other

Yes...there is that. They could make the smilie box wider as there is space to the right of the text box when replying. Or move the add reply button to the tool bar above, or just below the box.

The crossed fingers/good luck smilie - the shortcut code is the same for some reason. I find that when I post or edit, that shortcut gets the good luck smilie, but if I do quick edit, it changes to to fingers crossed. I did mention it earlier in this thread I think.

You can cheat and get them both by posting them as images, though...

This isn't going to be a popular reply. . .

They're great but I can't look at them - they make my eyes go funny if they're jumping about, and so I immediately move out of any thread with them. Is there a way of switching them off your own particular computer, if you see what I mean? So that they are there for everyone else to enjoy, but not doing their best to induce a migrane here? If there is a way to do this, could someone explain in very simple language as I'm not very technically minded. At the moment I have to blu-tack a strip of cardboard over the left-hand panel when replying to cover them up. Low tech, but effective.

(And in case anyone was wondering, no, I don't watch television, we haven't got one.)

Yes:

1) Install Firefox

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

2) Install the Adblock extension

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865

3) Go to reply to a post
4) For each smilie you want to hide, right-click it, pick 'Adblock Image', and click OK

That's it - you won't see any of those smilies after that .

I think all the ones in the last two pages should be included - just great!

Bag always makes me laugh with a 'poke' one and a 'banging head against a brick wall' one on msn which could be very useful in some threads here...
