I have just started to learn the piano because it might be useful in later life. It is my 2nd or even 3rd instrument as I am around Grade 7 flute standard and until I couldn't continue, Grade 4 Keyboard standard although I didn't do any grades on this instrument.
So, because of my keyboards skills, and that I recognise the right hand notes and some of the left hand, I can play Grade 2 pieces. I don't know whether I am taking any Grades due to GCSEs next year and I am just having trial lessons in the summer holidays.
When I practice I usually just go over my pieces a couple of times and play some scales, but I am not motivated to practice, I would much rather pick up my flute and practice rather than play the piano.
I would like to continue with it after the summer.
So, any ideas of motivation before next Thursday (5th Aug)?
Thanks!

what you should do.
is just stare at the piano and your instinced will tell you to play.
if you go in to a music shop and walk past a keyboard or piano your first instinced is to press one of those keys.
thats what it should be like with practicing.
just push your slef and practise and practise.

Are you finding the pieces you are playing quite easy so that the little you are doing is enough?
If this is so maybe you need something a little more challenging. That way you would not feel that you can get away with only going over them a couple of times.

That's what I'm like... it gets me into trouble sometimes!!!
I can't be in a room with a piano and stay away from it!!!

Play stuff that is way way way too hard for you. Chordal pop pieces, that's what I did. When I'd been playing for three months I started to learn Bohemian Rhapsody (the most common arrangement around, it's in the Greatest Hits Book 1 if any of you have it) and that took ages, but it taught me loads! Then I shocked my teacher

It wasn't half worth it hahaha

are you playing things you don't enjoy? try pieces you want to learn or fun pieces such as pop songs you like or something. see if that works

just a suggestion
