I am teaching piano to two people just now (my mum and a 12 year old) both grade 1ish, and am trying to get more familiar with the piano books out there. I have had a look at the lower Wedgwood books like Really Easy Jazzin About and Up-grade, which I like a lot. Will definitely look into Cornick, Norton (got Collection 3 and it's brilliant!), Mier et al. For more Classical style I really only have the Classics to Moderns, which has some nice tunes but not brilliant. What do people prefer for this kind of music? I have heard of Hours With the Masters, It's Easy to Play Mozart/Bach, various.

Any ideas?

There are a couple of Classics books in the Oxford Piano Time series - around grade one.

Also the AB collections have some classical pieces in - Keyboard Anthology, More Romantic Pieces, Romantic Sketchbook (the latter two assuming you mean classical in the wider sense ?) etc.

Young Pianist's Repertoire from the Waterman-Harewood series is similar to Classics to Moderns but has some different things in.

I would also recommend Piano time Classics. They have all the famous classical tunes in very nice easy play versions at about grade 1-2 standard.

oh - another one is Music through Time (book one)

Thanks magiemay and possom. I'm not a fan of Music Through Time for flute and clarinet but might look at the piano one. The Piano Time Classics could be worth a look (though if it's full of pictures like the tutor book may not appeal so much to my pupils)

Has anyone experienced the Its Easy to Play Classical Greats or Easy to Play Mozart? Would they be any use around grade 1?
