piano movers drop a clanger
organgrinder
Oh my God
John Willett
Interesting - but Bosendorfer the "Rolls Royce" ???

I thought a top concert grand was well over £100,000.

As the accident was negligence by the movers, I would have thought that it would be their insurance that would have to fork out, not the insurance of the people involved ???

You're right John and the photographic evidence is there.

You usually insure for replacement value too rather than purchase price so that's a bit strange as well.

I dread to think what ' Bodgit and Droppit' would have done if these were a firm of expert piano movers!

This is a sad tale for all concerned. I hope that the poor festival prganisers manage to sort out a replacement in time.

It's heart-breaking to see this happen to a piano like that......but thank goodness no-one was injured - it could have done some serious damage if it had hit/fallen on top of someone.......... ohmy.gif

This is truly awful sad.gif
One thing that puzzled me was that at the top it says that it cost £45,000 but when you read it, it says it cost £90,000. Hmm....

ohmy.gif I feel so sorry for the delivery men... they must be feeling so bad.

The piano was 10 years old, so £45K sounds about right for that. £90K is the new price (? including VAT). Bosendorfers cost more than Steinways.

Amen on both counts.

I read this in various newspapers about 3 times yesterday. They were specialist piano movers too!
