So now Elgar has been taken off the £20 note, it looks to have caused a bit of a stir! Personally I don't see the reason for that, especially in this his 150th anniversary!
It seems to be accepted that Elgar is Britain's most famous and successful composer. So what is it that makes Elgar's music so 'quintessentially English'?

..or his works on English Folk songs perhaps.

Personally, I prefer William Waltons music to Elgar.
