Hi, Can anyone help? I need to know what to include in the programme notes other than talking about what i'm going to play and why I chose this particular programme.

Isn't that the idea? Talk about what you are going to play, discussing the interesting/important/thought provoking musical aspects of your pieces, where they stood in the composers' output, is it a significant work in history etc...

If the composer isn't well known a little blurb on them wouldn't hurt, for a well known composer this isn't so necessary. Write about the context in which the piece was written, anything interesting going ons in the composer's life that would have affected the piece in which you're going to play. Try and mention a few of the musically interesting things to look for when listening to the piece.
Get some old programme notes to help you achieve a similar style.
Hope this helps.

Dont think you write about why you chose that particular set of pieces, thats a question most likely to be asked in the viva.
The website that was mentioned in that previous post I started about the diploma help website has a list of different things to research, and once you have done that its all easy!
