Anybody heard about Peter Maxwell Davies' talk/rant to the ISM the other day?

Having read the whole thing I partly agree and partly disagree. He's right that our expectations are too low re young people and classical music - we probably give up too easily or not enough of us have found the right way to present it to people who would normally loathe it or just find it plain dull. On the other hand I think he's too sweeping about what he calls pop music, probably confusing market-led pap for all the genuinely innovative stuff going on at the moment in electronica (just read today about a Morrissey/electronica/tango collaberation). If he doesn't want to be called elitist he shouldn't be so dismissive of so much that's out there.
But on the other hand he makes a lot of fair points. If you have the time please read it; it's in 3 parts.
