HELP!

I'd really love to be able to play this piece, it's so pretty!

I usually find that I am OK with things hands separate with a little work then it's just putting it together, but this one I can't seem to even play the left hand very well on its own wacko.gif. It jumps around all over the shop quite unmercifully.

The right hand is OK, it's not like I have it perfect yet by a long stretch, but I could round about sight-read it so it's just getting it confident and fluent and them attempting to play it musically... but how I am going to manage hands together EVER when the left hand just looks impossible I really don't know unsure.gif

I know what you mean, it's such a nice piece to listen to! Can't help you with this though sorry, as i never played it. I dimissed this as a choice as soon as i saw the key signature! I instead stupidly went for the, in my opinion, extremely boring, 'Dream'.

Good luck with it! (just keep playing the left hand over and over, extremely slowly, this usually works for jumpy piece .. well, it does with me smile.gif)

I know the piece, it's a bit harder than it looks, like you said the left hand being somewhat tricky . Because of its brevity i sometimes repeat it, more slowly the second time. It's a really attractive piece, and very reminiscent of early Scriabin, they knew each other well. I got it from the Liadov book from Associated Board, but have only done three or four other pieces from it, the mazurka is also really nice. If you like this piece, i'm sure you'd love Scriabins 24 preludes opus 11, the naxos CD of which is volume one...some are difficult to play though. They have that mysterious beauty. Good luck with learning it, try and memorise some of the left hand parts.

I've got a feeling AP did a recording of this on the forum recordings site. Maybe it's worth sending her a PM? smile.gif

She did - I have it! (It's her fault that I want to play it........) Good idea, I can pick her brains.......... muahaha.gif

It's a great piece but I never had the patience to get my fingers around it. I think I was possibly scared off by the key sig... ohmy.gif

I seem to recall AP assuring me it wasn't as bad as it looked...........

Actually the right hand really isn't as bad as it looks. It's the left that's foxing me......

Do not be put off by the key signature! This was my first reaction when looking at this piece. It isn't as bad as it looks.

I learnt this hands seperatley and the left hand is the hardest to get right. Note wise its ok but getting it sound flowing isn't that easy. Practice the left hand on its own until it is secure. Try your hardest to stretch and hold the notes for their full length, even practice without the pedal as this helps alot.
On this piece I think I kind of leaned on the thumb which accented the second beat of the bar and played the first and third beat lighter.
