From all of your qualifications, muisc related or not, of which are you most proud and why? I think that I am most proud of my dip. in Welsh from Bangor Uni, but my Fellowship is a very close second. I am also rather pleased when my dog wins fun dog show rosettes!

Getting a distinction in G4 flute by myself.
Getting through my degree unscathed(ish)!

It would probably have to be my 1st for my recital at uni last year. Firstly because I'd only been playing almost two years and secondly because it will never happen again, so I'm glad I had the experience of getting it

Getting a distinction in grade 4 piano when my teacher predicted me a scrape pass.
Most of the other things I'm proud of, musical or not, are not qualifications though.

Getting into University is my proudest achievement, just because I've learnt so much! Finishing University will be even better lol!

Not a qualification as such. 12th place in Devizes to Westminster Canoe Race 18 hours 24 Minutes from start to finish - worked harder for it than I ever did for a music or academic exam(a few years ago now though).

In order of achievement:
At school, taking and passing Grade 2 violin after only one term of lessons
The first time I played professionally at a major London venue.
Being the first person in my family to study for and be awarded a degree - physics.
(Although I'm proud of it, I don't really see my GTCL from Trinity as a degree

, although it is the equivalent of the BMus now awarded by all the conservatoires).

Passing Grade 4 Descant recorder by myself after a couple months
Getting a merit at Grade 7 recorder in 6 months of lessons
Coming 2nd in the first public music competition I entered
Getting places into Birmingham Conservatoire and RWCMD despite the fact that NO ONE (not even me) thought I'd get into, and on an instrument I've only played for barely a year.
Winning the school music competition after 7 years and 50 entries

None of my musical qualifications or achievements (yet) make me particularly proud.
Of my qualifications, the FRCS Ed. is my proudest.
Of other achievements, Rowing for GB as a Junior in 1977, finishing second in my section (albeit the lowest section) of the British Chess Championships 4 years ago and passing my Advanced Driving test last year were all good but . . .
. . . holding each of my children for the first time was the best!

Probably my double science GCSE, as I had rather a lot of people telling me there was no way I could do it a year early without extra teaching. I now have a certificate with A* on it to wave under thier noses!

I studied and qualified in medicine, had the necessary "O" and "A" levels (well, nearly

) to get into medical school, have a postgraduate qualification in general practice, and have also done a few music grades and some sailing certificates.
But the only one I've framed is the music diploma. Proudest of that because I worked really hard for it, and got a good result against my expectations.

Definitely my Advanced Musicianship Diploma with Distinction! Having been a spectacular failure in music until happening upon Kodály, I then achieved things that I never thought were possible. I worked my socks off for that exam (taken by two fearsome aged Hungarians who were both students of Kodály

) and at the end of it they told me they thought I was the best one of the nine people taking the exam that year and would I start to teach the Elementary level in the September?!
That was the first time I taught adults - very, VERY scary but then as forum members know, I get VERY scared about just about everything

.
It just made me so determined to try to fulfil the great man's edict that 'Music should belong to everyone' in whatever way I could.
I was a very early developer as a young child and then formal education did absolutely nothing for me and seemed to knock all that early promise on the head - and consequently was undistinguished and extremely unhappy all through my childhood/young adulthood. Every since discovering all this music that was inside me just waiting to be unlocked, I've been a late developer AND HOW!!
Cheers, Zolly - I owe you Big Time!!!

I have two achievements that I am really proud of. First is grade eight piano at the age of 39 and I got 140! I basically hibernated from normal life other than work and practised for hours for a year as I had been away from the piano for years but grade eight was always my huge ambition.
The second is the magnificent CT ABRSM that I gained in 2004. It is a superb course that I believe any music teacher could benefit from having. The greatest thing about it was the fact that I encountered the Kodaly system of music education courtesy of Cyrilla and I can really relate to everything that she has said.
I had similar experiences as a youngster and this way of learning about music has been a revelation. As some forum readers will know, I am presently studying at the Kodaly Institute in Hungary and this is where the CT course has led me.
By the way, although Cyrilla says she feels scared about teaching adults amongst other things, she never ever shows it so I reckon that's a mark of a true preofessional!

Non-muic related, I'm most proud of my A* in GCSE French- I'd been crawling round at about B standard right up till the exam...
But in music, I'm most proud of coming 2nd in a grade 8 class at Sutton fetival

Well, logically I must be most proud of my CertAPS(Open) as it's the only one I've got framed. That's an undergraduage Certificate in Astronomy and Planetary Science from the Open University.
It's actually really pretty (compared to my others), so my husband said when it arrived that I had to frame it. As a result, I went and hunted out my other certificates. I now intend to frame and put on the wall my BA(Hons), MA and G3 Theory-with-distinction (it's the only music certificate I have). But I'm going to buy one frame per month after payday in order to be sensible.
I have got my A-level certificates too, but I'm not going to go that far. My GCSE certificates must have met the same fate as my music certificates - "I'm never going to need them" thoughts led me to bin them many years ago, I think
When all four are framed, they are going to go on the wall in the downstairs loo

Hopefully to be joined later by more OU and music certificates

Hmmm I would say grade 8 distinction but now Im realising how little that means.....so much more work to do!
So I will say getting 4A's in my A levels and getting into Uni.....although the same applies...end of year exams- ARGH!...only 4 more years left after this month!

I got a certificate from the Milk Bank that stated (the admittedly rather considerable) amount of excess breast milk that I had donated when I had my second daughter. My husband wanted to frame this because it was pretty and put it in the downstairs loo but I refused. (Thought it made me seem too much like a cow)

I don't think any of us will be able to beat that!
New proudest achievement: my flute student scoring a really strong pass in her first ever flute exam - even though she came out saying she thought she'd failed!

I did my grade 8 piano at the same time as my A-levels - the day after my last A-level exam in fact. I was more proud of that result than of my A-levels - I knew loads of people who'd got 3As, but no-one who had my mark in grade 8 piano

I'm sure you're not anything like a cow...but it also wouldn't be hygienic to store the milk in the loo

I am most proud of my grade 1 in singing, because before that I had never sang in front of anybody, or done any grades... I'd always been told performance wasn't my thing (now I'm a drama queen, centre of attention!)
Despite all that, with a lot of pep talks from my teacher, I did it without fainting, and passed... so even having done 2, 4 and 5... that's still my most proud moment musically...
Other than that... I don't know, I generally do well in exams - maybe getting full marks in my English coursework folder for GCSE... and full marks for all my speaking and listenings too (so that performance stuff was rubbish!)

Music-related, it has to be my Grade 8 piano, because I wasn't altogether sure I would make it (and it required a lot more work than I'm used to). Non-music related, probably my top 5 mark in Eng Lit GCSE, since it's outside the usual Maths/Physics sphere which I do well in.
