The only bad bits are:
1) It goes up to top D (!!)
2) They've put it in the middle of exams (concert and rehearsals) so I can't do it, as it seriously eats time, and have exams before and after the concert *cries*

Errrmm...I am not sure! I think we're doing one? But I don't know really, we're only doing some bits and only got the music today.
Yup...that D...lovely!

Luckily it's not often. But I'll need to practice it a lot!

Lawrence (our son) has played contrabassoon in orchestral performances (lots of fun) but is now preparing the piano reduction for his LTCM exam and it is v difficult. He has yet to get all the last page under his fingers.
He was practising it earlier, after dinner. Next to the Brandenburg 5 (in which he's to play harpsichord shortly and which he also ran through earlier), the R&J seems considerably more challenging despite having many fewer notes.
Best wishes

The contrabassoon part is cool - we had woodwind/brass sectionals today, so I heard it

Prok's R&J is amazing

I'm envious you get to learn it even if you don't play it in the concert...
*goes off humming it.....*
