Ever played in a brilliant concert where the audience consisted only of performers' parents?
Shame, eh?
Well I figure that if the members here could publicise what they were performing, where and when, then some of the other members might be inspired to go along and enjoy it.
Publicise your public performances here and give your fellow members the chance to come along and appreciate your talents and the music.
For example...
On 27th May (Whitsun/Pentecost) the Eucharist at the Chapel Royal, Hampton Court Palace will include the Duruflé Mass "Cum Jubilo". It's a fantastic work and well worth hearing if you have no other plans that day and are not too far away. The service starts at 11:00, so arrive at 10:30, entry is free (go to the barrier in Tennis Court Lane, to the left of the main building, and tell the officers you have come for the Chapel Royal). Lawrence (son) will be playing the organ throughout the service.
Best wishes

I have a solo at a concert on Wednesday - but I'd worry about my online stalker turning up so I won't say where.

PM me for details.

Isn't that just called a school concert?

I'm not playing in any, school or otherwise, in the near future - the limits of my exploits would include participation in a baroque workshop and an item in the recorder classes for a music festival in Edinburgh in June.

Nice idea, Barry.
Brahm's Requiem - combined choirs - Cleeve Chorale and Bridgewater Choral Society - Cheltenham College Junior School - Saturday April 28th - 7.30pm.
I'm accompaning the (professional) soloists in a selection of lieder before the main work (Brahms, Liszt, Schumann, Schubert and so on)
PM me for ticket details if you are interested.
Cheers,
Sue
PS the Brahms should be lovely - the conductor is excellent and I've been accompanying CC in rehearsals. 2 piano version by Brahms.

BT: Might it be a good idea to send a quick note to the mods and check this is OK?

I don't think it's the kind of advertising they are likely to *mind*, and it's a really nice idea... but still... might be wise

I can't get to any of these concerts yet, however Barry if the mods allow it this is a wonderful idea. Nat I love the Brahms but Bangor is a long way from Cambridge. Good luck to everyone who has a future performance in the near future.

I'm playing with my jazz quartet 'Hot Strings' at the Upton-on-Severn Jazz Festival on Friday 22nd June from 7.30-10.30pm. Yay!
Would be delighted if any of you could come along - it's a great festival apart from anything else.

I booked weeks ago! It's my first time at Upton but there's lots of performers there that I've seen at other festivals and I'm really looking forward to it!
Hope to get to say hello!

Anyone else going?
Edit: We both posted at the same time, Sarah - I'll email you!

Next event is usually publicised in my signature, but here's a list of the next few:
May 19th: Faure Requiem in Brighton
May 28th: Faure Requiem in Bristol
June 30th: Elgar Music Makers in Redhill
and apparently a lunchtime recital in Redhill on July 19th, for which I probably ought to sort out an accompanist

Oh goodness, Skylark and Sarah - you'll both be there?!? Make sure you meet up beforehand so you know who you are, and then come up and say hello!!! We're playing in a venue called the Leisure Boathouse or something - it's in the town, not on the campsite, right by the river - lovely venue - mmm! It's the best festival ever with the most fantastic atmosphere right down to a Mississippi-Showboat-style boat all lit up with coloured lights going up and down the river to the sounds of New Orleans jazz...

I've just spotted that there's an evening ticket available on the day after 6pm - V, do you know if there are or are likely to be any limits on availability for this??

I don't know, Sarah - perhaps it would be a good idea to ring them and ask when it's a good idea to start queuing for one? Alternately I might be allowed a couple of guests??? I don't know about this - will ask them asap.
Another idea - for another £6 (in advance) it says you can get an all day ticket which (I think) gets you into all events - so you could make a day of it if you had the time and energy - and see loads of stuff. As long as you didn't get to tired by the end of the day to see us, that is!!!
I'll make the guest list call when I have a moment - I just can't remember if they do them or not.
I'm already looking forward to seeing you there!!!

If I'm in any doubt I'll just get the £16 ticket - even if I can't make the whole day for £6 having got all the way over to Upton it'd be worth it to know I was definitely going to get in!!! Be useful to know about the £10 ones if you find out any more detail though, but don't worry 'bout it

Oh OK. But if I find out we're allowed any guests I'll let you know in case you only come up for the evening. A hint: get to our venue a while (half an hour) before we start, as a crowd tend to gather outside the doors clamouring to get in!?! Amazing but true (or just bizarre?!?

) but one reason of the many reasons we love this gig so much!

Well if anyone's in Belfast on the 9th June go to the Waterfront in the main concert hall (you'd have to get tickets beforehand) because my School of Music is playing our annual Showcase Concert with some of the orchestras and bands playing - my orchestra will be playing 4 pieces including Brahm's Academic Festival Overture!
