Hey my daughter is going this year for the first time! She plays the viola - there is a shortage of viola players (what's new!). She also plays the Alto Sax & piano. She is a bit aprehensive. She will have just had a couple of days back in the UK from the school's orchestra tour in Germany so she may be a bit tired but sounds like fun.

It should be a great experience biggrin.gif . I am too a little aprehensive smile.gif, will probably be okay when I get there though. Can't wait to meet some lovely new people.

If finances allow I'll be going :-)

It sounds like good fun as well as a chance to get a go at some of the top level repertoire (still need to consult my bank before I can go though unsure.gif )

My daughter's going for the 2nd time this yr - last yr she was the youngest girl on the course & had a fab time! brilliant teachers/location & really high standards - would seriously recommend this to anyone else reading here.

Ooh that looks good - might save a list of these for my students for next year.

I'm off to Wessex this year, which should be fun biggrin.gif

Hey
This year it will be my first time o EYSM and I'm going to play the flute/piccolo. How it's like? I'm sorry for any mistakes I've done, but I'm from Poland - english isn't my native language wink.gif

Hi Blanka! You'll enjoy it, it's really good smile.gif Everyone is very friendly - I made lots of friends last year - and the music tutors are all brilliant and helpful. You get lots of free time as well as rehearsals and there are sports in the afternoon (though you don't have to do them, you can just chat to friends) and activities in the evening.

Your English is better than my Polish laugh.gif

We're getting so close now - only about a month! Looking forward to seeing you all - if people want to, will swap mobile numbers and/or describe myself so we'll recognise each other smile.gif

WOW! ohmy.gif

1st year of attending EYSM and really enjoyed every minute of it!

The week was fantastic! lots to do and so varied biggrin.gif party1.gif .
Enjoyed playing with players more advanced than myself and getting to know such lovely people.
I'd recommend it to anyone interested in music! (costs alot! some receive bursarys/scholarships though).
I'd say worth every penny smile.gif

nice to meet up with Blanka (brilliant flautist/piccoloist!) + Firebird (fab at the horn!)

My daughter went to EYSM (another first timer) and had a brilliant time! Although she had attended other music summer courses she was very reluctant to go on EYSM and accused us of 'abandoning' her when we left her there.. So I sent a txt saying if you really hate it we will come and get you - no reply. unsure.gif

So we sent a parcel of sweets & chocolates plus letters full of kisses. That brought a reply "dont come I'm fine having a good time too busy to txt or call see you when you pick me up" rolleyes.gif

The standard of performance was very high and the venue excellent. So I guess she will be back next year. biggrin.gif

(Oh & there were at least four people she knew from other orchestras! wink.gif
