Could someone tell me what the new syllabus is like for Grade 8 Violin. I'm not sure how long it will be before it is listed on the ABRSM website or how long it will take for the syllabus booklets to reach Singapore.
Would be grateful for this preliminary information. What's the policy for using the repertoire from the 'old' syllabus? Thanks in anticipation for any helpful replies.

you can use the old syllabus in the March/April session next year, then thats it!

I tried looking for you on Musicroom.com but, infuriatingly, they don't seem to have grade 8!!! Only grades 1-7!!!

have you tried looking in a music shop near you? they might know or have a list for you. and they could tell you when the books are coming out.

The Selected Violin Examination Pieces books are now available from music retailers - for more information please visit the ABRSM Publishing website

The syllabus booklets are currently being printed and will be made available on the website later in August. An announcement will be placed on the home page when this happens.

UK candidates can still use the current syllabus for the remainder of this year and for the first set of examinations (Period A) taking place in March 2005.

Candidates from all other countries can continue to use the current syllabus until the end of 2005 - but please don't mix pieces from the new syllabus and the old syllabus in your exam. All examinations pieces performed on the day must come from either the 2003/04 or the 2005 - 2007 syllabus.

Oh, it says on the ABRSM publishing website that the grade 8 pieces haven't been published yet!

It wouldn't be on the musicroom site, as pieces for Grade 8 violin aren't published together in one book - you have to buy each piece indivdually, as with instruments other than violin and piano.
