Just wondered if anyone was going to any of the Cheltenham Jazz Festival? I won't be going (although I did go to a preview of a premiere for Cheltenham, if that's possible, last night). There are several gigs I'd be hoping to make if it was in London, including

Kyle Eastwood
Gwilym Simcock big band (should be amazing)
Jonny Phillips Oriole Brazil
Clark Tracey's Jazz Messengers
Ingrid Laubrock Nonet (the band I saw last night, some amazing stuff but only if you like your jazz on the cutting edge)
Bennie Maupin

If anyone is coming over to Cheltenham and fancies visiting, let me know - it's maybe half an hour from me.

Oh man I loooove Gwilym Simcock!!!

He's an astonishing pianist. I've seen him in a number of different set-ups and always been blown away by his skills. He certainly deserves all the accolades that come his way. I've not seen his big band yet though.

no. i live in cheltenham but im not going. im competing in the performing arts festival though. in my piano solo class i came 4th with 96 marks and the bronze medallist had 97!!!
