In the scales
A minor and D minor remind me of genie music! It sound soo creepy haha!
Who else thinks that??? My teacher says thats a good way to remember them...Although I can't belive she doesnt think they sound abit...you know...Odd!!!

Odd!?! Sorry but I beg to differ - they're beautiful! I love minor scales....

They can be beautiful, they can also be spooky though

I used to think that as well! I don't really think that so much now though, but I do know what you mean!!!

Yeah minor music can be spooky sometimes... In fact that's the first thing I read about minor scales/music in one of my piano books at a lesson! It seems to be a good way of remembering minor scales, etc.
It's funny because I often thought pieces have to be in a minor key to make them sad, but melodies in major keys can be just as sad. Sorry I'm ranting a bit now!! lol.

Harmonic minor and minor scales are often used in Arabic and some Eastern music, maybe thats where the genie idea has come from.

I also LOVE minor scales
but yes, in books they are mentioned to be the scales used for 'sadder' pieces, maybe it's the 'goth' in me that makes me like them
