I got something stuck in the outer slide while cleaning it. Took it to the brass repairer, who didn't hold out a lot of hope. Sadly the slide collapsed while he was trying to extract the thing. Now gone....

Bach have said it's going to take 60 days to get the replacement bit. By which time I will have no embouchure left at all.

*sigh*

Is there any way you can hire one for a couple of months, Meerkat?

Can you practise embouchure with the mouthpiece?

You can certainly keep your embouchure going with just the mouthpiece, Buzzing scales on it, even doing tunes and simple excercises.

I was always taught that this was a good excercise for tone and breath control.

Sorry to hear 'bout the 'bone - you must be gutted..

Maybe you could stick it in a hosepipe, and try some of that music Nicki found

It is a bit tragic. All my fault too. You know when you do something, and for just a split second before think 'hm, maybe this is a bad idea' but do it anyway...? *sigh*

Yeah, I've kept my mouthpiece, and I'll try to do the practice thing. I just know myself well enough to know I'm going to find it unsatisfying, and probably won't do it as often as I should.

I used to take my mouth piece on holiday and buzz away to all the tunes i liked.
Sounded hilarious but kept my lip in trim.

That's not a bad idea, might try it myself. (am learning cornet and need to practise as often as I can) smile.gif

Mouthpiece thing sounds like a good idea it is horrible playing another instrument than the one your used to. It just doesn't feel right!
