Hi Everyone, I have been playing from the book "Up Grade 0-1", and loving it. Mainly because I can play them fairly quickly. laugh.gif
I have fast forwarded to the end of the book, and found "Running". I love it and can't stop playing it, and now I'm messing around with it making it longer and more tricky. I am in love with my piano. blush.gif

Going back to the 'seriousness' of the thread... wink.gif I have the up-grade book 0-1 and have played most of them, I really liked it smile.gif I want to buy an up-grade 1-2 and a 2-3 now as I liked the first so much!

I looked at them today, and managed to resist them..... just.
I bought the Grade 1 book. They look so boring compared to the Up Grade. Only the Mozart and Rag time ones looked OK.
What have you all done recently for Grade 1??

I have learnt all of the pieces on grade 1 book except for Moebius which I could not face as I find it so BORING! laugh.gif
My fav is also the RagTime smile.gif the hardest for me was Banges Herzelein ph34r.gif
Am trying to learn properly some of the pieces in grade 2 book now but also trying to have some 'fun' by playing stuff I did 3 months ago and learning some pieces from Piano time Classicals etc

This year's grade one is a big disappointment on the whole - not only with pupils !
Morgan's Munchkin
I don't mind the pieces in the grade 1 book. I'm playing the Andante which I really like, and the Old Cuckoo Clock, which is fun and not too difficult.

As for the Up-grade books. I have grade 0-1 and 1-2. There's a really lovely piece in the grade 1-2 book, but I can't remember what it's called (or play it for that matter tongue.gif)

I have a theory that I might actually be a brilliant pianist, its just that my piano insists on playing all the wrong notes ....... or the right notes, but in the wrong places .......

Seriously though I also wub.gif my piano.gif .

PS: I hope that she doesn't get jealous, but I'm getting an oboe tomorrow! biggrin.gif

Yep, when I plan students' concerts it's usually the youngsters who are keen, and the adults who don't think they want to take part.

Good luck on Saturday !

Thank you everyone. I'll let you know. tongue.gif

I went OK biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
piano.gif I played the notes right in the correct order, and rhythm. I felt that the dynamics were flattened, BUT, as I felt sick when I played, that wasn't too bad for a first performance in front of........160 people. My teacher, Jane, couldn't believe how many came. It was brilliant. For everyone.
The highest were Grade 6. Lowest, my daughter doing Tunes for Ten Fingers.

**Please don't say you've changed your mind..I might just cry....**

Glad the concert went well for you! What did you play, by the way?
The Old Lady
I played "Running Free" in the Upgrade Book by Pam Wedgewood. Have come down to earth this morning, and realize it could be some time before I am a concert pianist eek.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

If you like the Upgrade books, you can also get Upgrade Jazz versions which are really nice.

yay.gif Enjoy your oboe!!
That's definitely the one for me... I wub.gif my oboe far more than the piano, although I'm really enjoying the Bach prelude that's in Piano lessons book two (can't remember who has written it). I was also using a Michael Aaron Adult Piano course. I liked book one but don't like book two much. Much prefer the Piano lessons book two. It's a pity I'm such a lousy piano player. sad.gif sad.gif

Something fantastic happened yesterday. My piano teacher called me into the room where Jen was having her lesson. Age 6, learning since Christmas. She played hands together, the skaters tune from More Tunes For Ten Fingers. I was speechless with delight. What a girl tongue.gif biggrin.gif smile.gif party1.gif

If you like Pam Wedgwood's Upgrade books, you might like her book "It's never too late to play piano". I've been playing pieces from that book, and have really been enjoying them. It goes from beginner's level to Grade 2/3ish.
The Old Lady
Thanks Chris.
