when anyone else plays C#(just blow into the sax!) does it sound a bit funny, like its out of tune or something, coz mine does a bit!

play the D minor horribleonic scale and you get Bflat to Csharp.
It does sound better in context, but poor between D and A, I think you also dont have to blow so hard cos theres less restriction to the horn ?
I think it also sounds odd but if the rest of your scales are ok, I assume that is too.
Have you tuned with the mouthpiece, A to Fsharp on an alto sax i think it is?
push it further on to get sharper, pull it out to get flatter - or is it the other way around?
Im only guessing - I dont really know!!!
hang on though - your grade 5 you know that - sorry didnt mean to sound patronising!
Ill just agree - yeah Csharp does sound off.
(how do you make a sharp sign on a keyboard?)

Cripes, your teachers are being lax.
I'm going to assume the C# only sounds wrong on the middle C# - top C# should sound fine.
Hopefully you all know how to play high D,D#,E - those 3 keys are very useful if you haven't got the octave key held down, as they can slightly adjust the pitch of the C#. One of the 3 keys (and it depends on you and your instrument) or a combination of them will sort it out.

I would hope I'd have an answer to a question like that, it's something any teacher knows

hey, last night my teacher told me my C# is flat.
we practiced a few times and we decided that,
a) You should play it in context of scales to get a true idea of whether it really is flat. You notice semitone gaps more easily.

Its made more arkward cos you not holding the sax with the same grip, therefore you relax a little and
c) You drop your lip.
Thats what we thought anyway!!!!
