The pictures I've seen on the web of Yorkshire today suggest that parts of it are very wet...

The forecast for tomorrow is a bit better though.

Thanks Barry..looks like I need to drive through the wet bits to get to the dry bits. Lets hope the dry bits don't get wet otherwise I'll be driving through wet bits to get to wet bits. Lets hope the dry bits stay dry otherwise they'll be wet. Let's hope the wet bits get dry then we'll all be happy!!

Oh..great joy!!!! Ah well...will remind me of the time I went to the proms in Hyde Park a couple of years ago. Got soaked to the skin and ended up with a chest infection!!!
Still, I had two weeks off work...and I saw Andrea Bocelli at the Proms!

BAH! Just missed a cracking thunderstorm!

I went through to our local Dobbies to buy some more compost - I was probably away for 1 1/2 hours, if that, and when I left the garden centre to come home it was most spectacularly black-looking. (Hadn't been anything when I left). I rang my friend and she said they'd just had a real belter of a storm - thunder, torrential rain, hail etc. .......and I drove home but by the time I got home, it was sunny! (And black where I'd just driven from!!!

)
I now wish I'd taken a photo of the clouds on my phone before I left the garden centre - it was amazing! So dramatic and evil-looking.........

I remember a good few years back sitting in my car in a supermarket carpark waiting for the heaviest downpour in yonks to stop so I could make a dash for the door to go in and do my shopping........we waited, and waited, and eventually it eased just enough to make a run for it.........only to arrive at the door where there was a security guard ushering people out and stopping people going in - the roof of the supermarket had just collapsed under the sheer weight of the water........

And 3 years ago, we had an enormous storm in the hills behind us which resulted in a flashflood which completely altered the local waterfalls (all the old picture postcards are inaccurate now!!) - the floodwater was so high a local man found a trout stuck 40ft up a tree........

And the sheer mass of water toppled and carried off huge slabs of rock - and I mean huge!!

Twelve hours of rain overnight, still dull and looking like more rain.
Just seen my neighbour and his band arrive back from Glastonbury, people, instrument cases, sound gear all covered with mud. Big happy smiles though. His wife sat them all on the front lawn for breakfast, no-one was allowed in the house.
