Overcast, but still quite bright, and a bit windy, though not as windy as forecast (Wirral)

Hearing of all sorts of wild weather across the UK ohmy.gif

Here, it's sunny, and breezy rather than the howling gales elsewhere...
Swell Box
By way of an update from earlier today; it's now very wild outside, but very bright and sunny in between light rain showers when it becomes dark and overcast. I can see the glass in the windows bending with the wind pressure, and we have to be very careful opening the back doors, which face due west. I think we will have a lot more wind before it calms down.

I have known windier conditions, but not for a long while, and not at this time of the year.

'Who has seen the wind?'
Neither I nor you,
But when the leaves are trembling
The wind is passing through.

Such was a poem I learnt at primary school (as well as The Wind was a ghostly galleon....)

Yesterday evening were warned of gales, and that even the M62 might be closed (I leave every Tuesday at 6.15am to drive to Yorkshire)

But where did it go ? Who has seen the wind ?

A visitor left my house at 9pm last night, I stepped out of the front door with him, and the trees were completely still, including a tall pine in a neighbours garden opposite. This morning at 6.15, hardly a whiff in the air !

Considering we are on the west coast this was most surprising. It wasn't even too bad on top of the M62, though perhaps its getting a bit blowy in Horsforth now. Clear blue sky and sunshine smile.gif
barry-clari
Sunny, breezy.
Clari Nicki1
biggrin.gif really nice, sunny, autumnal day!
Swell Box
Much calmer now, dull with light rain.

Our windows are filthy with dust and soil after the storm yesterday.

A car driver was killed not far from here yesterday, and a passenger seriously injured when their car was hit by a falling tree. A roof was also blown off of a modern factory building near to Durham, but nobody was hurt.

Not here Barry. A lovely blue sky and sunshine in West Yorks, hardly a cloud to be seen.
fsharpminor
Twelve hours later, its horrible, sterted about 4pm to get gradually worse and has been raining on and off ever since. Its also become very windy.
barry-clari
A lot nicer today : sunny and relatively mild.
fsharpminor
Was raining when I had breakfast at 7.30, but has much improved now, blue sky and white cloud patches, also fairly mild.
Aquarelle
Very warm and mostly sunny.
maggiemay
Mild and bright - a lovely autumn day. Started very cold though - a reminder that October is not far away.
fsharpminor
Pleasant and bright on the Wirral but not really sunny as theres a thin cloud cover - little wind so feels milder.
barry-clari
Very nice biggrin.gif

barry-clari
Another nice day. Forecast is for 27 degrees by the end of the week blink.gif

Hot - and the forecast is unseasonably hot for the whole of the week.

A fairly grey and dank autumnal morning sad.gif

A fantastic morning. Left home at 6.20, with light just appearing along the horizon. By M56 sun from below horizon was shining on to a few thin striated clouds, and producing a plethora of pinks and orange colours. The whole bisected by several aircraft vapour trails. The sun didnt actually appear until I was on top of M62 (like an ubiuyitous fried egg in the sky ph34r.gif )

Lovely autumn morning. Misty with the sun just breaking through.

foggy
fsharpminor
When I left Chevin Hotel it was only 12 deg , and quite misty (I could not hear any activity from Leeds/Bradford airport), but this is now clearing and its warming up nicely in Horsforth. We are expecting at least 24 deg.
Maizie
11 degree, misty with the sun rising...well, it was, when I was out on my bike. Nw the sun has come up a bit further and the mist has all gone, skies are blue and cloudless, and I suspect it is going to end up as hot as they predicted (while I'm sitting here shivering...11 degrees is warm-ish, but without the sun being up, it's probably a bit chilly for shorts and short-sleeves, so now I'm home and sensibly dressed with a big cardi on while the kettle gets up to boiling!!)

I can't venture out as I am at work.

Anyway it is warm in London today.
