OK, folks, it's make-your-mind-up time biggrin.gif ! Our accompanist has now asked for the copies, and those who have said they will need his services should have received an email from me giving the address to send the copies to - so I need people to make their final decisions as to which piece to play! smile.gif

OK Jo. I'll just bounce my thoughts off my teacher on Saturday, if that's OK, and then get the music off to James, so it should be with him Tues next week, or Wed at the latest. Is that ok?

I'm 3rd on the reserve list for soloists, so it's unlikely I'll get to play....but if I did make it to the top of the list I've got a Brazilian piece in mind and it would be great to have percussion accompaniment.

Well, I've spent part of this afternoon getting the programme into order smile.gif. It's looking good, but there are still about a dozen gaps to fill where people haven't told me their pieces.... it really will be VERY helpful if I can get the programme finalised before I go away on holiday later this month, because once I'm back at work I have hardly any spare time.....

You're a Good Boy, Barry - when have you last been known to forget anything? tongue.gif
Deborah
I'm not going to be able to make it sad.gif

Husband and I had identified the week before the concert for a holiday, calling in at Woodford Green on the way home, but that plan has fallen by the wayside - he now has to chair a meeting in Germany on the Thursday and Friday before the concert and we'll be staying on afterwards, not returning home until after the concert (it's just coincidence that this is the beginning of the Oktoberfest, promise rolleyes.gif wacko.gif)

If plans change again, I'll come along and join in the audience.

Anyone willing to look after the Scratch Clarinet Choir mooted earlier?

Sorry to hear you can't make the concert Deborah. sad.gif

I'll bring a couple of clarinet ensemble pieces with me - if there is any spare time/area to practice in, it'll be good to have a play through some of the pieces. Priority though has to be with pieces for the concert, and although I've got a fairly low workload for this concert, I'm not sure how much rehearsal time I'll need for my duet, and equally, others will need to rehearse for the concert too, and their needs have to come first.

I guess a clarinet/single reed day a la andante's flute day might be a good idea sometime in the future (and when I mean future, I mean not this year...). I'll have a think about it, and if I can think of something feasible, I'll post a new thread. smile.gif

By all means, Oddball! smile.gif

For anyone who might have been thinking of coming, but was put off by the fact that all the solo slots were gone - due to lots of shufflings-about by various people who had said they were coming and now aren't, all those on the current Reserve list are now able to play their solos biggrin.gif . So anyone who applies now will have a reasonably good chance of playing in the concert, because in my experience there are always one or two people absent due to unforsee circumstances (sickness, emergency etc). Reserve solos must be unaccompanied, though, as they will be very much slotted in at the last minute.

The closing date is August 22nd, by the way - make sure you apply before then! smile.gif

OK. smile.gif I'll look into some venues, and I'll see if I can set something up next year sometime (early summer, possibly). I'll also start a new thread in Viva Woodwind, so we don't clutter Jo's concert thread up any more, would appreciate if people reply with their interest there rather than here. smile.gif

Well, the programme's pretty much done now, although I'm still waiting for info about noisybassoonist's solo, Andy-p-f and nicki's flute duet, Carl and Clarissa's clarinet duet, Booney's solo, and sbhoa and skylark's clarinet duet. Please give me the details as soon as you can, folks!

The running order (edited version!) is:

Katyjay, Suepea and sbhoa - violin, cello & piano
Amber - voice
nicki-flute - flute
andante-in-c and noisybassoonist - flute and bassoon
jo.clarinet - clarinet
willobie - viola
Pollyanna - treble recorder
barry-clari - clarinet
andante-in-c - voice
Andy-p-f and nicki-flute - flutes
DaisyChain - piano
Carl and Clarissa - clarinet duet
Recorder consort
Forums Choir

INTERVAL

Recorder ensemble
sbhoa (with nicki-flute) - piano and flute
noisybassoonist - ??
Carl - clarinet
barry-clari and andante-in-c - vocal duet
TSax and The Light Beat - sax and percussion
Katyjay - voice
Booney - piano
deviless - flute
sbhoa and skylark - clarinet duet
Suepea - cello
Amber and Katyjay - vocal duet
Andy-piano-flute - flute
Grand Finale

The choir piece will be the Alphabet, with music by Mozart. The recorder ensemble will be doing the Overture to HMS Pinafore by Sullivan, and the Grand Finale will be the William Tell Overture, which some of us played last month - well, the music cost quite a lot, so I'm trying to get my money's-worth out of it! biggrin.gif
andante_in_c
Jo - I'm not doing a flute duet with Nicki. That's Andy-p-f, as far as I'm aware. So, no I'm not in three duets, and it didn't slip past your beady eye. wink.gif tongue.gif
jo.clarinet
The plot thickens - I've just checked the forms, and find that Nicki says she is indeed playing with Andy-p-f, yet on Andy's form it implies that she (Andy) intends to play with andante!!!!

So - is it definitely Andy-p-f and nicki for the flute duet? Sorry for giving you a fright, andante!

It's just been pointed out to me that I have left the recorder consort out, so I shall slot that in somewhere in the first half. I'm glad I put the running order up, so that these things can be ironed out smile.gif.

I have to say that my mind has not been as focussed on this as it should have been - as some of you know, my mum recently went into a care home with dementia, and I've spent most of my summer hols emailing, writing letters and being on the phone trying to realise all her assets, as her care will have to come out of her own funds - and she has those spread all over the place - it's been a real nightmare to sort out! blink.gif
